Firstly

小さい頃から工作や手芸が好きだった私。

感染症蔓延のため長期休校になったとき、

それまで難しいと思い込んでいた服づくりに挑戦しました。

「服を作るのって、こんなにも手間がかかるのかあ」

そんな驚きと

「あ、服って、意外と自分でも作れるじゃん」

という気づき。

そして、

"手間のかかる服が、安く売られているのはなぜ？"

"着るために生まれた服なのに、大量に捨てられている現状とは？"

服づくりを通して、

その対価や環境負荷に関することが頭の中を巡りました。

I have loved crafts and handicrafts since I was a child.

When school was cancelled due to an infectious disease outbreak,

I took on the challenge of making clothes, which I had thought would be difficult.

I was surprised at how much time and effort it takes to make clothes, and I also realized that I can make clothes by myself.

And then..,

“Why are clothes that take so much time and effort being sold at such low prices?

What is the current situation where a lot of clothes are thrown away?

Through the production of clothes,

I began to think about the price and environmental impact.

concept

　私が過ごしているこの社会では、大量生産・大量消費が主流です。

　そのような社会で、ハンドメイドにおける環境負荷について考えるならば、

　物を産み出さないことが、いちばん良いのかな…？

　とても悩みました。

　それでもハンドメイドが好き。

　やっぱりなにか作りたい！

　それならば、できるだけ環境に負担のないものを。

・海で拾ったマイクロプラスチックを利用したアップサイクル

・環境に配慮された糸(オーガニックコットン/自然に還る糸)を積極的に選択する

・使い続けたくなる「ストーリー」のあるモノづくり

　わたしにもできることを実践しています。

　今後は

・制作道具の見直し（より地球に優しい道具を利用したい）

・余り糸の活用

　これらについて挑戦します。

　海の生き物にも、陸の生き物に対しても優しい選択をしたい。

　それが うみねこのこねこ の考え方です。

　そして、物が溢れる世の中で、あえて私が作り出す意味とは。

　まだまだ考え中です。

But I still love handmade goods!

I still can't help but make things!

I want to make things that are as environmentally friendly as possible.

I make handmade products using waste plastic,

organic cotton, and recycled yarn.

I hope that the oceans, the land, and the entire planet will continue to be healthy.
